Długo nie dostrzegałem, jak wielkim problemem są czcionki na stronach WWW. Do niedawna myślałem, że domyślne czcioncki z CSS w zupełności wystarczą. A tu się okazuje, że to działa źle i są problemy z tego konfiguracją. Potrzebuję więc teraz spisu czcionek, które są dostępne na przeciętnym systemie komputerowym dostosowanym do obsługi polskiego języka. Pod Linuksami powinien być dostępny pakiet DejaVu. Pod MS Windows XP powinny być dostępne Verdana i Georgia. Na tym niestety kończy się moja wiedza. Ktoś chętny podzielić się swoją wiedzą?

W arkuszach css oprócz właściwej nazwy czcionki (family-name) powinno się umieszczać informację o jaki rodzaj czcionki nie ma na wypadek gdyby wskazanej czcionki (lub żadnej z kilku podanych czcionek) na komputerze użytkownika nie było (tzw. generif-family) (http://www.w3.org/TR/CSS1#font-family) Dlatego chyba nie powinno być tutaj jakichś dużych problemów w tej kwestii.

Na pewno nie wystarczą. Jak nie ma np. pliku luxirr.ttf to raczej nie zgadnie, że chodzi o "Luxi Serif"

Niezrozumiałe literki wyglądają dużo lepiej niż jednakowe, niezrozumiałe znaczki braku obsługi literek. Ja mam zainstalowaną obsługę i skłamałbym, gdybym powiedział, że jest całkowicie zbędna. Aczkolwiek w tym temacie interesują mnie tylko polskie.

Georgia jest fajna. Pod moim Linuksem lepiej jednak wygląda DejaVu Serif. Są jeszcze jakieś inne, o wysokiej czytelności.
